My reaction on Apple’s

iOS7 copied some of Android’s and Windows Phone’s features and designs,
that’s the truth. And both Google and Microsoft should be challenged because it might take its throne again on the smartphone war arena.
iOS is still not feature-packed, but since they now got the essential features, what they need to do next is to execute it well. And we all know that Apple is good on this field. Having a stable OS has always been their edge.

Android is already feature-packed… So what Google needs to do now is to strengthen and hardened their Android OS. Better if they will stop fragmentations. It is hard for both users and developers. I don’t know how they’ll do it because it is actually next to impossible , but I think if they’ll be able to stabilize their Android OS and if they’ll be able to push device carriers to rollout firmware updates in a timely fashion, then they might stand a chance.

The underrated Windows Phone is a good phone… Apple showed a statistics in the iOS keynote that it is the second smartphone when it comes to user satisfaction, of course theirs is the first. Meaning, Windows Phone is a stable phone. Apple also showed some new iOS features that are already old on Windows Phone. Meaning, WP is feature-packed. So what’s missing out here? MARKETING. No questions on this one because MS has been brave on showing up ads that are direct to hit to their competitors during the past few weeks. So what I think they should do next is to add an extra push! Add an extra push on creating more ads and marketing and add extra push on their developers. I don’t really know how they’ll do it, but I think if they’ll be able to attract more and more developers to develop for WP or even asked some developers from Apple to switch, then I think they’ll have a big chance on stealing the crown from iOS.

Just a disclaimer, I’m not an expert on this field. All of these opinions are brought up by my observations and actual experience with the phones. It might be correct and I might be wrong. But in the end, as you see, each phones have their unique capabilities so it is just a matter of self preferences.

iPod Touch, Still my Best Choice for Portable Music, Movies and Gaming…

Having an iTouch? hahahahaha man, kakaiba to ah, nakakapanibago 😀

i dunno.. alam ko kasi more on sony and microsoft ka eh.. kaya nakakapanibago lang

Akala ko ba loyal ka sa Sony? Anyare? :))

hated iphone and ios and still want it. that’s double standard my big bro

These are the words that bombarded me on my social networking accounts after I posted pictures of my newest toy- The iPod Touch 5th Gen(PRODUCT) Red special edition. I was really surprised when I got these kind of messages because I never really knew that people would really know me and even brand me as a Microsoft and/or SONY guy after being too vocal about these two great companies on most of my social networking accounts. But I do hope that people would not get me wrong, I hope that they would understand that I’m posting the pictures of my gadgets on my Facebook account for me  not to flaunt but rather for  to share my knowledge and my experience on the world of technology and gadgetry.

And as part of being an IT professional and a gadget enthusiast, is my ability to weigh things and to check out what’s suitable for me. Hence, my unbiased choice for Portable media, video and gaming and  might be browsing is still for the iPod Touch.

I mean, who am I to disregard this piece of wonderful technology? Apple is claiming it as their gadget that was “Engineered for Maximum Funnes” and they are right absolutely right on this one.

With the iPod touch,  you can spend a lot time without going even into the brink of boredom. With its  rich collection of quality apps from the iTunes, great camera, awesome speed and new and better sound quality via the new ear pod, escaping from reality is just a touch and flick away.

But to answer why I choose Apple’s iPod touch, instead of SONY’s or Microsoft’s… Well let’s go first with SONY.

As a self-proclaimed SONY Fan-boy, it wasn’t really hard for me to accept that I should go for the iPod touch instead for their Walkman F and Z, their closest product to compete with the iPod touch. These two is focused on sound quality which is not really surprising because these are SONY products. And no one could ever question SONY’s authority when it comes to music and into sound quality. Even its name was derived from “sonus”, the Latin word for music.

Of course for a music player, this feature should be the first thing that we should consider. I must admit, I almost bought this nifty gadget specially that I was raised in a house of an Audiophile(my dad, who happens to be a SONY fanboy also). But, what really caught my attention on the iPod Touch 5th is its camera, which was not on Walkman Z nor on the F. I think Apple did a great job on listening to their consumer on adding a very decent 5-megapixel camera on the iPod touch. This is very useful not only to me but to other shutterbugs out there who are getting gaga over instagram and who are being informative and vigilant by showing events around them using the camera. Also having a camera made the iPod Touch an all in one portable device, not only for music but for other fun stuff. If you are solely looking for a device with a audiophillic quality of music, then go for Walkman music players.

Meanwhile, on the other yard… Microsoft have decided to discontinue the Zune music players and decided to integrate it oh wait…  they fully discontinued Zune (even the platform and even the software) in exchange for the Music App and XBOX Music platform and Windows Phones store. So basically, I have no other choice but to go for  an iPod Touch.

Although some are saying that I should also consider a Windows Phone… Yes I might be, but perhaps over an iPhone5, not over an iPod Touch. Why? Because I want a dedicated portable device for my music, games and movies. I will leave my communications like texting, calling and browsing on my phone but not the latter. I don’t want to compromise my cellphones battery over entertainment, like I don’t wanna stop a movie that I’m enjoying just because I’m afraid that my phone’s juices will run out and  I won’t be able to contact anyone in case of an emergency.

And if those reasons aren’t enough for me to grab the iPod Touch? Perhaps its massive specs (for a portable media device) and colorful design would do the job. How about the pricing? Nah, I always look on the value not on the price. And believe me or not, the iPod Touch 5th Gen’s pricing and upgrade is more reasonable than of the iPhone 5. Well, uhmmm… but that’s a different story.

But the bottom-line here is,

I’m still a SONY and a Microsoft Fan Boy. It’s just that iPod Touch is the best portable device for music, video and gaming. This is my unbiased choice and sometimes I have to be unbiased for me to have the best one. But how did I learn which is the best one? By weighing things, by checking out the pros and the cons of the gadget that I’m buying.

I don’t wanna be the “know-it-all person” , but I think this should be the guideline that every consumer must have every time they buy a new gadget so that no money or even the technology itself would be wasted.

It’s ok to be bias on your favorite brand. But it is still  best to study everything about the gadget that you would like to buy  and once you got it… Learn what it can do for you, utilize it well , release its full potential , be a super user and don’t forget to have fun with it!

With these practices, your gadget would be the best and every penny that you’ve spent on it would not be wasted.

That’s all, for today my dear friends. ‘Till next time, but for now… Let me grab my Escape from reality Pod, for I’ll be having the maximum “funnes” with it!
